CGU Formally Recognizes Hunter Chair of Mormon Studies at School of Religion — 4-23-2008
By April 2008, one of the initial funding goals of the endowment had been reached. Accordingly, Robert Klitgaard, president of Claremont Graduate University, formally recognized the establishment of the Howard W. Hunter Chair of Mormon Studies in the Claremont School of Religion.
Fundraising is ongoing to permanently establish Mormon Studies at Claremont, promote student enrollment, and provide student fellowships for a thriving program.
President Klitgaard welcomed the guests.
Karen J. Torjesen, dean of the Claremont School of Religion, provided an introduction.
Richard L. Bushman reflected on his appointment as the holder of the Howard W. Hunter Chair in Mormon Studies at CGU.
Dean Klitgaard offered the “Chair” to Professor Bushman.
