Patrick Mason in The Big Story re: Polygamy

In late September The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints unveiled its newly renovated church history museum with a surprising addition, a small display acknowledging the practice of polygamy by early church leaders. Commenting on the exhibit, Patrick Mason, associate professor of religion at Claremont Graduate University in California and Howard W. Hunter Chair of Mormon Studies, said, “The fact that this is going to be deeply embedded in this kind of official narrative at the church’s signature museum is significant.” The significant lies in the fact that, as Mason explained, “This is where Mormons take their kids. This is where Mormon youth groups go.”
