In recent years, membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has burgeoned globally. In this age of globalization and demographic change, many Latter-day Saints have migrated to new locations, yet the voices, stories, and perspectives of these Latter-day Saints remain largely untold. CGU’s The Mormonism and Migration Project seeks to gather the life stories of Latter-day Saints who have crossed borders and archive documents (photos, church programs, etc.) that elucidate their lives.
The project’s website maps the movement of selected migrants, feature interactive media related to their lives and experiences, and include introductory historiographical essays on Mormonism around the world. Ultimately, the project will serve as an archive for scholars and community members interested in the lived experience of Latter-day Saints navigating a globalizing world.
